I have a constant batch of Kombucha brewing and occasionally find that the end of the second ferment goes a little far and ends up too ‘vinegary’, so rather than braving the sour first thing this morning I made this toner.
I’ve been using Raw Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner lately (half and half with filtered water) but I had run out and Kombucha shares many of the same properties both being from a ‘mother culture’.
Kombucha is particularly good as a topical application in helping to treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and leg ulcers. It helps to balance the natural pH of the skin that can be affected by washing, products and pollution and has an astringent action, tightening pores and refining the texture of the skin.
The aloe vera calms, soothes and moisturises the skin whilst the lavender acts as an antibacterial and helps heal scar tissue and pigmentation.

150ml Kombucha Tea, strained (the longer the brew the better)
3 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel
50ml filtered water, or a flower water such as rose or orange blossom
20 drops Pure Lavender Oil
Simply add everything to a sterile screw top bottle and shake well to combine.
To use, wipe over your face with a cotton pad after cleansing then moisturize as normal. I also like to use it first thing in the morning to freshen up.
